Data sources & methodology
Every number on WOWS comes from a third-party provider — WOWS does not operate an exchange, a data feed, or a pricing desk. This page lists exactly where each part of the site gets its data, how current it is, and the specific things it should not be used for.
Providers
- TradingView — Charting engine (licensed Advanced Charts). www.tradingview.com
- Finnhub — Company profiles, news, real-time trade stream. finnhub.io
- Yahoo Finance — Quotes, historical bars, international coverage. finance.yahoo.com
How current the data is
Quotes shown on the dashboard, markets and symbol pages are cached for up to one minute; the market-movers screener refreshes on a two-minute cycle. TradingView's embedded charts and widgets pull their own data directly from TradingView's feed on the schedule TradingView sets, independent of the rest of the page. None of this is tick-level, exchange-direct data — for the free-tier feeds WOWS runs on, a real-time stream carries a small fraction of total consolidated market volume, and every quote can lag the actual market by anywhere from a few seconds to a minute or more, especially for thinly traded symbols. Nothing on WOWS should be used to time an execution in a real, non-simulated account.
Company profiles & fundamentals
Company descriptions, sector classification, market capitalisation, P/E, EPS and dividend yield come from Finnhub's company-profile and metrics endpoints. These are updated on Finnhub's own schedule, not WOWS's, and can be stale for recently listed, delisted, or thinly covered symbols — a gap this site does not silently paper over. Where a figure is missing, the page shows nothing for it rather than a fabricated or interpolated value.
The AI analyst
The AI analyst is a large language model with your watchlist and recent headlines added as context. It can misread a number, misattribute a headline, or state something plausible-sounding and wrong with total confidence — that is a known property of the underlying technology, not a bug specific to this implementation. Treat its output as a starting point for your own research, never as a source of fact on its own.
What none of this is
Nothing on WOWS is investment, financial, legal or tax advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold anything. The full terms of that are on the risk disclaimer. Every trade placed through WOWS uses a simulated account funded with virtual currency — see how paper trading works for what that does and does not mean.
